When my brother and his wife were expecting their
first child, and subsequently the first grandchild for my mother, I
decided a special gift was in order for their baby shower. I
searched my magazines and the Internet for the perfect cradle design
and found this one. A beautiful design with paneled sides, elegant
curves, and convenient knockdown features in case storage is ever an
issue (although I hope it is always on display). Made out of red oak
with a couple of coats of MinWax "natural" oil and a few coats of
satin polyurethane applied to get the final look and protection
needed, this will soon become a family heirloom. I admit I did get
some help with this... I used store-bought spindles (who has that
kind of time) and my mother sewed up the rail pads and bottom
cushion. |
